Art School
Wim Delvoye
When I went to art school, I also thought, “Oh, I’m much too smart for that. Why didn’t I, to begin with, already start with something a bit more ambitious than just that?”1 So, I felt very, very bad for my parents who were imagining I was doing a great study.2 And art schools are relatively easy things, easy to go through. You can fool your professors, you can easily look like you work hard, you can easily fool other people. And that’s basically what you learn in art school, is to fool other people, and to make them believe that what you do matters.3 That’s the only thing you’ll learn there in art school.4
