We all sort of crave to be appreciated for what we do, don’t we? ((Exploratory Search, Known By Others)) So, I most certainly do what I want to do. I’m fortunate in that position that people seem to be buying what I do, and it’s what I do. I’m not pandering to a market. ((Different Colored Inks, Jim Michener, System Of Art)) I’ve got people all the time sort of saying to me, “Oh, you should do something about this subject, or something about that subject, or something that will happen in the news. And you should do something in this, because you know.” And it’s like well, if I didn’t feel the need to do it, I don’t need telling to do it. That’s not going to make me do it.

A good example is I came up with a throwaway kind of jokey phrase the other day, and someone said, “That would make a brilliant print, you should do that as a print, that’s a sort of a Banksy sort of idea.” And it’s like, well, I’m not Banksy. That’s not what I do. I’m sure Shepard Fairey, Banksy, Faile and the rest of them come up with great ideas for different media, but it’s not what they do, so they don’t feel the conviction to do it, and it doesn’t fit in with what they do. ((Ai Weiwei)) I have great ideas for music, whether anybody want to listen to them is another matter. I don’t do it, that’s not what I do.
