I think the origins of what we know now as a Christian or a religious atheism are in the prophetic revolution of Israel. Now, this occurred in the 8th Century B.C.E. And what those original prophets of Israel did was to absolutely assault not simply the established religion of their day, but the established politics. All of them issued absolute judgments, absolute judgments of God upon the monarchy, upon the court, upon the king, upon all established government and law. Now, this is a prime example, it sort of originates it, of turning the world upside down. You begin to sense by absolutely assaulting what Hegel called the given, by absolutely assaulting the given or established world. ((Starting Point))
