Yeah, perhaps it comes from because we don’t remember our own origin or birth or first year, and that — I have the feeling that the characters always have to imagine a sort of — yeah, something very large begins, another world begins, and then there is something very tiny that is that guy, that girl here, there, at that moment. ((Mother Earth, Specific Words, Starting Point)) And that’s just their life, even if time is for eternity, and if world is infinite, life is for short time, and in the short space too, and it’s not sad.

 

And the sort of where the life comes from, when he says that — in Toto, when he says that a little — a stone has fallen through the sea, or that his brother is born in a washing machine, it’s just because the character doesn’t remember anything about his birth or he can’t imagine anything.
