My father, he was very much into poetry. He was a teacher. And he introduced me, I think, when I was a kid. ((Started In The Womb)) So, we would mostly read children’s verse in the beginning. But then, as a teenager, when we moved to Denmark, I would start reading poetry, probably because he introduced or gave me the books, I don’t even remember.

But I remember that it was such a relief in a way to read it. And I started writing poetry as a teenager like everybody else. But kept doing it, and really felt at home somehow within that genre, probably because there was some math to it. It was like — or crosswords. You had to do the way you work with the form. It has to be precise, it has to be short, it has to be strong. I liked the idea of, yeah, the shortness of the writing.
