It’s never the point, I think, of any kind of music, to make any other kind of music irrelevant or impossible, like the success of any kind of music shouldn’t be “We have this big thing, so we don’t need this little thing”, or “We have this popular thing, so we don’t need this unpopular thing”. I think the secret of a healthy musical environment is to figure out how to have all of it, is how to have as many different composer options as possible, and as many different performer and listener options as possible. But the problem is how do you put everything in the place, so that it shines?
