But I have some real empathy with fundamentalism, okay? I was never a fundamentalist myself, but I had empathy with it. I mean, I can deeply sympathize with their apprehension of what a horror this world is, what a horror our economy is. What a horror the established world is. What a horror the established authority is. I’m very sympathetic with that. Now, of course, most of the fundamentalists have, from my point of view, been opted out by established forces. But nevertheless, they’ve got this fundamental feeling that something’s profoundly wrong with the world. Now unfortunately, they’re of course mostly very ignorant people, we can’t insult them for that, they’re simply ignorant. And of course, they really know almost nothing about the Bible, but that’s one of the illusions of fundamentalism. ((Cosmology, One Or The Other)) They know very little about the Bible.
