I did study economics, especially economic history, and economic theory, and I think it was an effort to find some place for myself in the world where I would be secure, because I’m a migrant, so we don’t have any roots here. So, we needed to be self sustaining. And my sister is a barrister, so we both did the same thing. We both wanted to find a very secure place for ourselves. But as I got deeper into the discipline, I realized that I actually didn’t believe it as the way of understanding the world, and the assumptions that I had to make to understand the world, to put the world into these economic models. I just didn’t agree with. So, it’s like the structures that hold up these concepts, just didn’t make sense to me, like the indifference curve, and just things — just some of the mental things like that didn’t make any sense to me. And I realized that it was an interesting way of looking at the world, but it was only one way of looking at the world.

And that was quite interesting for me, because — and I thought that I wanted to be in a place where I could see the world where there weren’t these restrictions, where these assumptions didn’t have to be made. And that’s the art world. ((System Of Art))
