To start with, not all my pieces are visual pieces. So, what I love about having stretched my vocabulary like this is that I can sort of have an idea for a piece, and there’s less limitations of how I can get it to an audience. Maybe a certain idea needs a cello solo or string quartet or another idea could use — might need five screens and electronics and 3D film. ((Counterpoint, Two Dimensional Space)) So, it really depends on the idea, first and foremost as an idea, and then I start thinking how am I going to translate this to an audience. ((Tiger Jumps Into The Room)) So, having the visual and the sort of staging in my toolbox, it allows me to take on more ideas that I couldn’t tackle before, adding these layers to my work.
