Confidence in oneself is all the time a confidence in something or somebody, which precisely is not given — if I am confident in myself, as confident in me as Jean-Luc Nancy, the individual, I am, who is 73 years and French, but this is a confidence in nothing in the poor individual existence with all its limits. It is ridiculous confidence. If I am confident, I would say that. Confidence cannot be a confidence in the self. ((Louis Andriessen))
