I’ve never been very interested in science actually. As a young person, I didn’t do very well in school with science. But when I started being interested in experimental sounds, installations for example, there were certain things I had to know, and I’d learned enough to execute things. ((Not Yet Prepared For)) For example, Music On A Long Thin Wire — I was helping a physics professor here, through a course in acoustics. And we were looking at Pythagoras’ long string explorations in vibration of strings, discovering the nature of sound. ((Choirs Of Angels)) And I just learned enough about that to be able to be fascinated by it and to make this piece. But to tell you the truth, I don’t know that much about it. I only learned enough to make the pieces, and then that’s it.
